Coordination between microbiota and root endodermis supports plant mineral nutrient homeostasis

چکیده

Microbes modify plant root permeability The provides mineral nutrients and water to the plant. Diffusion barriers seal root, preventing loss of internal nutrients. Salas-González et al. found that microbes living on in roots model Arabidopsis thaliana influence diffusion barrier formation, which affects balance (see Perspective by Busch Chory). Plants with modified show altered bacterial community composition. tap into plant's abscisic acid hormone signals stabilize against perturbations environmental nutrient availability, thus enhancing stress tolerance. Nutrient homeostasis within the plant circadian network

Circadian clocks have evolved to enhance adaptive physiology in the predictable, fluctuating environment caused by the rotation of the planet. Nutrient acquisition is central to plant growth performance and the nutrient demands of a plant change according to the time of day. Therefore, major aspects of nutrient homeostasis, including carbon assimilation and mineral uptake, are under circadian c...

The Root Endodermis: Fine Structure and Function

The topology of the root endodermis, a tissue surrounded by peripherally located parenchyma cells and central conducting cells, suggests that it has a regulatory role in radial movement of water, minerals, and hormones. Each endodermal cell is characterized by a narrow band extending along the radial and transverse walls; this band, termed the Casparian strip, is chemically distinguishable from...

Auxin reflux between the endodermis and pericycle promotes lateral root initiation.

Lateral root (LR) formation is initiated when pericycle cells accumulate auxin, thereby acquiring founder cell (FC) status and triggering asymmetric cell divisions, giving rise to a new primordium. How this auxin maximum in pericycle cells builds up and remains focused is not understood. We report that the endodermis plays an active role in the regulation of auxin accumulation and is instructiv...

Microbiota-dependent crosstalk between macrophages and ILC3 promotes intestinal homeostasis.

The intestinal microbiota and tissue-resident myeloid cells promote immune responses that maintain intestinal homeostasis in the host. However, the cellular cues that translate microbial signals into intestinal homeostasis remain unclear. Here, we show that deficient granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) production altered mononuclear phagocyte effector functions and led to ...
